Fence contractors Newmarket ON

Picture
If you’re looking for reliable fencing contractors in Newmarket, York Region and surrounding areas, then you’ve come to the right place.  Our Newmarket fence installers have years of experience providing the highest quality materials and workmanship that ensure your fence or deck endures years of use, not to mention withstand our typical Canadian seasons.

You’ve probably heard of the suburban dream home with picket white fences, this image ingrained in your head from countless movies and TV shows.  Well fortunately, that’s not the only option available as we like to keep up with the times and are pleased to offer an array of materials and looks. We provide a variety of fences ranging from wood, vinyl, metal and chain link fence options as well as build beautiful and strong decks, pergolas, gazebos, arbors and more.

So whether you're looking for a privacy fence, gate, swimming pool enclosure, patio, porch or deck install, there are a few things to consider before you make your decision.  A lot of consumers are price-driven with good reason, but we urge you to look at value as the determining factor.  A cheap quote may entice a potential client, but if it's matched by poor construction and low grade materials, there will likely be many future fence repairs and replacements.

So why should you choose us as your main deck and fence contractor in Newmarket?  To answer this, take a look at what you should look for in a fence company:
  • Reliable - this is assumed, but not prevalent in all contractors.  You’ll want someone who respects you as a customer, and therefore completes the job in a timely manner.  A job should not be done too quickly (which usually equates to a rushed and sloppy job), but also not dragged on for weeks on end.  Your fence builder should give you an estimated time of completion and update you regularly if there are any delays due to circumstances beyond their control.

  • Good communication - good communication is not a one way street, and should be exchanged between the fencing company and the client.  The client should relay what he/she wants in a fence or deck (for example, the main function of the fence and the available budget), and the contractor should work within that scope, giving the best available options within the customer’s needs and budget.  An exaggerated example would be that a customer has a limited budget but wants a wrought iron fence surrounding their entire yard. The Newmarket fence company needs to clearly explain to the customer if the current budget does not allow for the requested fence, but make suggestions on attractive alternatives, say a metal fence that can mimic the look of wrought iron.  One more recent trend is highly fluctuating lumber prices, and any estimate should have a clear "good-until" date.

  • A good track record - with time and experience, the fence and deck company will likely have accumulated a decent clientele list, and therefore feel free to ask for one or two past references, particularly in the type of fencing you are requesting.  For example, if you’re looking to install a vinyl fence, ask specifically for a past vinyl fence customer, not a wooden fence one.  Another way to verify past work is to ask to see past jobs.  If the project is visible from the street, you can easily drive by and visually inspect the quality of the work.  Of course, this may only be one part of the story, as you may not know how the business-client interaction went, but it is a start.

We’re confident we are the best fence company Newmarket residents want - we're reliable, communicate and manage our time well, with a glowing track record of happy customers.
When you’re deciding on a fence installation project, it’s great to envision the end result, but it’s always good to have a plan in place.  The first question you should ask yourself is what is the PURPOSE of the fence? Is it strictly utilitarian in that you need to provide a barrier to keep your dog or cat in the yard, or do you also want some noise and privacy control?  The function defines what types of fence you can potentially work with. We build and install the following types of structures:

  • Residential fences (such as wood, vinyl, metal, composite, chain link fence and ornamental)
  • Commercial fences
  • Gates
  • Gazebos, pergolas, trellises and arbors
  • Decks and patios, aluminum and glass railings
  • Privacy fences
  • Security fences
  • Institutional fences

Certain materials are versatile and others are more suited to specific applications.  Feel free to explore our site which will explain the features, pros and cons of each type and material of fences, gates and decks.  For example, if you’re installing a security fence in a commercial or industrial setting, it wouldn’t make much sense to install a wood fence you would find in the backyard of a typical residential setting.  You’d most likely want a heavy duty metal fence, likely made from steel.  And in recent years, composite fencing like the popular brands Simtek fence and Trek fence have been trending.

Most clients get hung up on the material of the boards, but don’t forget about the posts.  Post material is important because they’re embedded in the soil, so careful consideration of material must be taken.  Remember, you can mix and match. For example, if a cedar wood fence is the chosen option for the fence boards, the posts should be made from pine as it better resists soil conditions.

On a stylistic perspective, mixing and matching can also be used to create a unique and chic look.  For example, mixing metal with wood can create a gorgeous industrial type look that has become trendy in recent years.  Mixing and matching can also be used to create a different function for a fence. For example, certain metal fence styles, although strong and durable, don’t offer much in terms of privacy.  But pair that up with wooden privacy boards and you create not only a cool look, but one that serves the purpose that your home needs.  Horizontal fence panels are also trending and an alternative to the classic vertical fence panels we're accustomed to seeing.

Sometimes, we get hung up on questions like "
How much does it cost to have someone build a fence?" or "How much does it typically cost to fence a yard?"  Those are common and valid questions when looking for a fence and gate installer, and although looking for an affordable Newmarket fence contractor is important, the ideal question to ask is how good a VALUE is that fence and deck builder providing.  You will find products and service of all price range, but you should be getting the most bang for your buck in your deck and fence install, and we can confidently say we are the fence pros and deck experts that can deliver on that.  So if you're initially wowed by the sticker price, ensure that the durability and quality are not compromised, because if your fence repair or fence replacement schedule is frequent because of shoddy workmanship and/or poor quality materials, then you didn't actually pay less in the long run.  We're confident we provide the greatest value given our years of expertise, highest caliber workmanship and the durability of our materials.

Speaking of fence repairs, in certain cases, depending on how "beat up" the fence boards are, you may need a complete fence replacement or a simple repair.  This is where our expertise comes in.  We'll assess the condition of your enclosure and advise you the best course of action.  We always give recommendations as if we're doing work on our own home or business.

In regards to business enclosures, what type of commercial fencing would be ideal?  Should you choose the same type of material as the typical choices for residential fencing?  Well, that depends on a few factors.  We find that many businesses value security fencing with privacy features in second place.  Security fencing must be in a durable material, so while sturdy wood or vinyl may be sufficient for a home, those materials may not cut it for a business where warding off potential intruders and thieves are crucial to the business's livelihood.  Metal, wrought iron and certain types of chain link fencing are the typical choices for security fencing, although some business owners may opt for durable cedar wood planks as they may offer an aesthetic look they want.  If you're unsure of what would be the best fence installation material for your needs, whether you value security, privacy or some combination of the two, it only takes a quick phone call to start the fence install process.  We'll visit your site and assess what would best serve your business needs and its environment.

FAQs:
  1. Should I get a wood, vinyl, composite or metal fencing?

Each material has a unique profile of features, including cost, durability, resistance to rot, maintenance, and eco-friendliness.  Take a look at the table below for a brief and general overview of each material's properties.  Keep in mind that within each material category, you may find a range of values.  For example, untreated pine, which is seldom used for fencing these days, is quite affordable.  The price increases once you opt for pressure-treated pine fencing, which resists rot and improves durability, and on the higher end is cedar wood which some view as the gold standard for quality wood fencing panels.  On a side note, lumber prices have risen dramatically the past year or so due to the pandemic, so we're hoping pricing for wood will start to normalize once the lumber mills are able to keep up with the demand post-pandemic.  Another thing to take note in the chart is the wide range under the metal category.  That's because for the purpose of the chart, we grouped chain link fencing with other types of metal such as steel, aluminum and wrought iron, which all have wildly different features amongst themselves.  For more details on each type of metal or any of the other materials, go to our "Services" tab to learn more.

2) What's the best material for privacy?

We will exclude metal fencing in this category due to the nature of the open-aired styles you typically see with metal, so let's compare wood, composite/ PVC fencing.  Both wood and vinyl/composite will provide the narrow to no gaps between boards to provide sufficient privacy, but if you're picky about absolute privacy, vinyl/composite have a slight edge due to the fact that their potential to warp is little to none compared to wood.

3) Which fencing type is best for ROI (return of investment), wood or vinyl/composite?

This is a tough one because wood offers a natural beautiful look that's unmatched by vinyl, but ONLY if it is well-maintained.  A beat-up wood fence would actually drag down the home's appearance.  Vinyl/composite have  amazing durability and low maintenance features, but their somewhat artificial appearance may stick out in a neighbourhood that has primarily wood fencing.  So the answer would be it's a tie, and comes down to personal preference and budget (both short-term and long-term).

4) How do I maintain my wood, vinyl or composite fence?

Regular maintenance is important not only to keep the enclosure looking beautiful, but to ensure it will last years and years without having to go through a full fence replacement.  Wood needs to be inspected regularly for any signs of rot, broken pieces or missing chunks of wood.  These would need to be repaired in a timely manner.  Cleaning wood usually involves a pressure wash, however, there is risk of damage to the wood planks if the pressure is set too high or done by anyone other than a professional.

Now, here's where vinyl and composite fencing shine.  Due to the surface characteristics of composite and vinyl fencing, all you really need are household cleaners and tools you likely already have.  We're talking about mild detergent or dishwashing soap, soft brushes and old rags or microfiber cloths.  It's as simple as that!
